London: Arnold Schwarzenegger reunited with his estranged wife Maria Shriver for their daughter Katherine’s graduation from the University of Southern California (USC).
The couple beamed with pride as their eldest child, 22, accepted her diploma from the prestigious university’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism on Friday in Los Angeles.
Schwarzenegger sat in the front row with the couple’s other children Patrick, Christopher and Christina, the Daily Mail reported. Shriver delivered the commencement address and was seated on the dais with university officials and other dignitaries. Appearing happy and relaxed, Shriver arrived at the ceremony with Katherine on the back of a golf cart. Wearing a lovely purple dress paired gold jewellery and purple nail lacquer, the mother-of-four smiled throughout the ceremony. Shriver delivered a moving speech about being a professional communicator and mother. “I’m pausing to be in awe of this moment, that I’m standing at my first child’s graduation from college,” she said. The 56-year-old went on to encourage the class of 2012 to make an effort to affect positive change through their work. “You have the power, each and every one of you, to change the way we as a nation speak to one another – the way we write, the way we use our words. “I truly believe you can change our national discourse for the better. You have the chance to change the way we talk to one another, what we read in newspapers and on the Web and in magazines. You can help us change the channel. “I hope each and every one of you dare to bring change to our community by changing the way we communicate,” she added. According to the USC website, “Katherine was among the more than 500 graduates sitting in the audience,” listening to the former California first lady’s speech. ANI
