New Delhi: The beleaguered liquor baron Vijay Mallya is set to have a diary clash this weekend as he has an appointment to appear before the Enforcement Directorate which is also the week of the opening-session of the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix.
Under the scanner of ED, Vijay Mallya has been asked by the agency to appear before it on March 18 (Friday) in a loan default case.
Interestingly, March 18 (Friday) is also the beginning day of the season-opening Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix in Melbourne.
Mallya, the owner of the Britain-based Force India is a regular at the Grand Prix encourging the team at all times. Therefore, his presence this week at the Melbourne Grand Prix will be vital.
On the other hand, the Enforcement Directorate is preparing a watertight case against the businessman and has written to 17 banks that Mallya owes money worth Rs 9,000 crore to.
The agency has also written to other probe agencies and is also understood to be mulling to take "legal action" in case Mallya does not present himself or produce valid reasons for absenting before agency investigators as scheduled on March 18 in Mumbai.
So, where will Vijay Mally be this weekend? A tough question for the businessman.
