Jamia alumni bags National Film Awards

Iram Ghufran, an alumni of the Jamia Millia Islamia university, has won the National Award for best direction and best editing in the non-feature section.

New Delhi: Iram Ghufran, an alumni of the Jamia Millia Islamia university, has won the National Award for best direction and best editing in the non-feature section at the recently announced 59th National Film Awards.
Ghufran received the award for her documentary ‘Something is in the Air’, a story about a shrine where large number of women pray to rid themselves of their inner demons.
Also Aparna Sanyal, an alumnus of Mass Communication in the same institute, has won the National Award for the best educational film for her documentary ‘A Drop of Sunshine’ that tells the story of a young woman suffering from schizophrenia. Both films have been produced by the Public Service Broadcasting Trust (PSBT). The winners of 59th National Awards were announced Wednesday here. IANS
