New York: Kim Kardashian has been told to keep dreaming about her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, who say that “she needs to get a real acting job” first.
The reality star had recently said that she had a goal of seeing her name on the Hollywood boulevard.
“I think there was a quote where somebody said that reality stars will never get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. So, of course I’m so competitive that I think that it would be a huge achievement and a goal that anyone would want. I would love to break that mold,” the New York Post quoted her as telling V magazine.
But the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, who doll out stars to celebrities burst her bubble.
“She has not been nominated. She is a reality star. We don’t do reality stars. She needs to get a real acting job then come to us,” a rep told Hollyscoop.
To be fair, Kardashian has some non-reality chops to her name. The ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ star stopped by for three episodes of ‘Drop Dead Diva’ and also has a role in Tyler Perry’s new flick, ‘The Marriage Counselor.’
However, it takes more than that to land on the star-studded walk.
A rep told The Hollywood Reporter that honorees must have won awards such as an Emmy, SAG Award or an Oscar as part of the criteria.
Also, according to the Chamber’s website, “anyone, including a fan, can nominate a celebrity as long as the celebrity or his/her management is in agreement with the nomination.”
Then if they are selected to receive a star, they are required to fork up the 30,000 dollars required to create and install the star.
Kardashian could be eligible if the Chamber changes its rules, but the rep said reality stars aren’t “on our radar right now.”
While reality TV, for now, isn’t considered a contribution to television, Kardashian theorized that the industry might open up one day, similar to how rap music progressed to widespread acceptance.
“I think [reality] is still a new form of entertainment that was kind of an unexpected thing,” she said.
“It reminds me of rap music. When rap music first came out, people were like, We don’t understand this, what is this, it’s just a fad.
“But rap music is definitely here to stay, and I think reality shows have proven they are as well. But when something is newer, people don’t really understand it,” she added.
