Maggi in soup again; court orders retesting of 16 noodles samples

New Delhi: Seems that crisis is not yet over for instant noodle maker Nestle, for, the National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission (NCDRC) has allowed the Centre to conduct fresh tests on 16 samples of Maggi.

The noodles samples test will be conducted at Mumbai.

The order has come in the backdrop of a government application seeking testing of 31 samples of the noodles seized by Food Security and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) from Uttar Pradesh.

Usually, NCDRC comes into play following complaints filed by a consumer, but a section of this Act of 1986 also provides for the government to register a complaint.

Nestle, which relaunched Maggi noodles on November 9 after a five-months ban, has started production of Maggi noodles from its Tahliwal plant in Himachal Pradesh.
