Horse fly with glamorous abdomen named in honour of Beyonce

Beyonce`s name is to be immortalised!

Melbourne: A new species of Queensland horse fly has been named after Beyonce due to its glamorous lower abdomen.
Bryan Lessard from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) has named the fly Scaptia (Plinthina) beyonceae as the 30-year-old singer is known for her predilection for flashy gold outfits when on stage.
Lessard also admitted to being something of a fan of the ‘Dangerously in Love’ hitmaker. “I do listen to her music in the lab sometimes,” he was quoted as saying. Lessard, who works for the Australian National Insect Collection in Canberra, said that the 12mm long insect was the all-time diva of flies, mainly because of its striking gold colour. He also said that he was going through drawers of specimens not yet described when “this one just jumped out at me”. ANI
