`Use songs, but don`t break flow of film`

Songs and dance are a must in Indian movies and Anurag Kashyap feels it is time for filmmakers to use them in such a way that they do not obstruct the flow of the story.

Chennai: Songs and dance are a must in Indian movies and Anurag Kashyap feels it is time for filmmakers to use them in such a way that they do not obstruct the flow of the story.
"All my films have songs, but I make sure I don`t deviate from the narrative of the film. Songs in cinema are intrinsically part of us and, therefore, we can`t ignore them," he said Wednesday while speaking about screenwriting at the Media and Entertainment Business Conclave (MEBC), being organised by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) here.
"People say westerners hate songs in Indian cinema, but that`s not true. The truth is that they don`t like to be disturbed from the flow of the film. They don`t like songs to change the setting of a film," he added. The "Gangs of Wasseypur" director is currently busy with his next project titled "Ugly". IANS
