Hyderabad: Hearing on Vijay Mallya's cheque-bounce case with GMR has been slated for May 9. GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd had filed a case complaining that Vijay Mallya had dishonored 2 cheques worth Rs 50 lakh each.

A local court had convicted industrialist Vijay Mallya in a cheque-bouncing case filed against him by the company on April 21.

The court, however, did not pronounce the quantum of punishment as the Rajya Sabha MP then and fixed the date for same on May 5.

Earlier, Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, had accepted resignation of liquor baron and Independent MP Vijay Mallya after he sent a fresh letter under his signature, a day after his scanned offer was rejected on procedural grounds.

Announcing the decision in the House, Deputy Chairman P J Kurien said a resignation letter of Mallya dated May 3 was received by the Chairman.
