Mumbai: Director Abhishek Chaubey, who is looking forward to the release of `Dedh Ishqiya`, says he had never thought of making a sequel to the 2010 hit.
`Ishqiya` starred Vidya Balan, Arshad Warsi and Naseeruddin Shah. While both the male actors will reprise their roles, the new addition in the sequel is Madhuri Dixit.
"I had no idea if I would ever make a sequel. I was trying to make my first film and my whole focus was on it. I had to no idea what the sequel should be about. The only reason why I am making `Dedh Ishqiya` is because we had a good story...It was story worth making into a film," Chaubey said.
"We are still shooting the film, ten days of shoot is remaining. The film is shaping up good."
Chaubey`s rural drama, produced by Vishal Bhardwaj had opened to great reviews and box office collections.
Ask him if he feels the pressure to deliver this time too, Chaubey says, "Filmmaking is difficult. So, pressure is always there whether the film will be a success or a failure. But I am not someone who thinks much about the fate of the film."
"I want to make a film that I would like and if I like it then audience will also connect to it," he said.
"When we came up with a story it was about these two men and their new adventure and hence we needed a new heroine," Chaubey said.
About replacing Vidya, he said, "The character that we wrote suited her (Madhuri) perfectly. We wanted to sign her on for the film, if she said yes. We approached her and she immediately said yes. It was pure joy working with her."
Another addition to the film is Huma Qureshi.
"She is a great actor and it is a pleasure to work with her."
Considering he is working with Arshad and Naseer for the second time, the writer-director says he shares a great comfort level with them.
"Now, the comfort level is extraordinary. I don't have to direct too much... They just know it, as they have been part of the film since its inception. So, I did not have to do much with them," Chaubey said.
