Sensex rallies 300 points; Nifty ends above 9,880

Sensex soars 258.07 points to end at 31,646.46; Nifty surges 88.35 points to close at 9,884.40. 

The 30-share BSE Sensex was up 305.74 points or 0.97 percent at 31,694.13 and the 50-share NSE Nifty gained 104 points or 1.06 percent at 9,900.05

Adani Ports surged the most among Sensex components gaining 2.29 per cent, followed by Sun Pharma (1.44 per cent).
Other gainers included HDFC Ltd, Cipla, Axis Bank, Tata Steel, ICICI Bank, Hero MotoCorp, Maruti Suzuki, Coal India, Reliance Industries, SBI and Tata Motors, rising by up to 1.44 per cent.

The rupee on Wednesday opened 5 paise up at 63.97 against dollar on account of selling of American currency by banks and exporters. The local currency on Tuesday closed 11 paise down at 64.02 a dollar.

The 30-share BSE Sensex was up 167.09 points or 0.53 percent at 31,555.48 and the 50-share NSE Nifty rose 64 points or 0.65 percent to 9,860.05.
