London: A UK woman, who works in nightclub security, bears a striking resemblance to the blonde bombshell Marilyn Monroe after shedding six stones.
Such was the drastic transformation of Victoria Steel from Manchester that a model agency has actually taken her on to work as a Monroe look-alike.
“I loved Marilyn Monroe when I was growing up,” the Daily mail quoted her as saying. “When I lost all the weight, all my friends and family told me that I looked exactly like her, which was great. “Before I lost the weight I didn’t look anything like such a sex siren. I look completely different now - just like Marilyn,” she said. Steel, who lives in Manchester, started piling on the pounds when she was a teenager. “I was in a relationship for several years and my partner and I loved takeaways. I’d always been curvy and hardly noticed the pounds piling on. “My weakness was chocolate bars and packets of crisps,” Steelsaid. By the time she was 24, she weighed a hefty 17 stone and wore size 20 clothes. And it was then that she decided to do something about her weight. “I looked in the mirror one morning and my stomach looked huge. I decided that I really needed to lose weight. I was only in my early 20’s and I was huge. I didn’t want to carry on living my life being so overweight. “I ate a ham and cheese sandwich for breakfast and the same again for lunch. Normally I would have then filled up on crisps and chocolate but even though I was hungry I remained firm. “I went walking and bought a yoga ball to do sit ups and squats on. I did half an hour of exercise each day and I could quickly feel the weight start to fall off,” Steel said. Just in six weeks Steel lost two stone, after which her friends remarked on an incredible coincidence between her and the actress. “Now I was thinner, the likeness was striking. I was thrilled about it. I loved Marilyn’s films. ‘ Miss Steel contacted a modelling agency which arranged lookalike modelling jobs. They took her on and she has since worked as a Marilyn lookalike. “A few weeks later I found myself wearing a fifties-style halter neck dress with my blond hair in curls and some of her trademark red lipstick. “I looked in the mirror and couldn’t believe it. It could have been Marilyn herself looking back at me. “I was asked to appear at a man’s birthday party. I sang a sultry ‘Happy Birthday’ to him, just like Marilyn herself did to President Kennedy. All the guests loved it. “Wearing Marilyn-type outfits is not a problem for me, as I’ve always loved the styles of the 1950’s,” she added. Since then Steel has had more modelling jobs as the screen icon and hasn’t looked back. ANI
