Mumbai: Actor Akshay Kumar will be doing a Hindi remake of a Malayalam romcom directed by Priyadarshan.
The idea of remaking `The Arab, The Camel and P Madhavan Nair` seems to have appeared to the actor while working on Prabhu Deva`s upcoming action drama `Rowdy Rathore`.
In the past, Akshay`s buddies Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan had acted in Hindi remakes of `Wanted` (2009), `Bodyguard` (2011) and `Singham` (2011), respectively. The films became a huge hit at the box office.
"I am making this Malayalam film of mine `The Arab, The Camel and P Madhavan Nair` in Hindi. That is the last film I did with Mohanlal. In the Hindi remake Akshay Kumar would feature in it and will also produce it," Priyadarshan told PTI in an interview.
`The Arab, The Camel, and P Madhavan Nair` is a 2011 Malayalam romantic comedy directed by the award-wining director. The film cast Mohanlal, Mukesh, Lakshmi Rai and Bhavana in important roles.
"All I can say is that it`s a hilarious film. We have not thought of the title in Hindi," Priyadarshan said.
His next offering is `Tezz`, starring actors Anil Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Zayed Khan and Kangana Ranaut in his maiden action thriller movie which also features Mohanlal in a cameo.
The hi-fi action sequences in `Tezz` are directed by Gareth Milne and Peter Pedrero, who are also behind the stunts of Hollywood films like `Harry Potter`, `The Bourne Identity`.
`Tezz` revolves around a bomb threat on a train and the cat-and mouse game between the bomber Ajay Devgn and London cop Anil Kapoor who is on his trail. The film is expected to hit theatres on April 27.
