Meet Akhsay Kumar – the new ‘Gabbar’!

Zee Media Bureau Delhi: He has won many hearts and a lot of critical acclaim as the quintessential Khiladi of the Hindi film industry. And more recently, he was seen performing the ‘rowdy’ act – in ‘Rowdy Rathore’. This time around, however, Akshay Kumar has been roped in by Sanjay Leela Bhansali to act in ‘Gabbar’, the remake of the Tamil blockbuster ‘Ramana’. ‘Gabbar’ is based on the fight against corruption, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali will don the producer’s garb for the film. The ace director confirmed the news to a daily, “We will be remaking ‘Ramana’. It`s a beautiful film and I believe such cinema should reach our Hindi film-watching audience as well. We look to do justice to the subject and treatment and are extremely excited about the project.” The official rights of ‘Ramana’ have been bought by Bhansali, who, meanwhile, is busy with his directorial venture ‘Ram Leela’. In the remake of ‘Ramana’, Akshay Kumar will be seen playing the male lead, but the lady across him is yet to be finalised.
