New Delhi: Volkswagen India said on Thursday that it has recalled 389 units of its premium hatchback Polo cars in India to correct a likely fault in hand-brake.
The company said that the quality assurance department of the company has examined that the hand-brake mechanism in the cars may not function effectively as expected under certain conditions. The cars will be inspected for preventive repair.
The car which have been recalled were manufactured in September this year. The German car-maker has asked all its dealers across India to stop Polo sales temporarily, till the company comes out clean on correcting the technical error, which is not related to the emission scandal that has clouded the firm in the US and European markets.
VW India produced 20,030 units of Polo in the April-August period this year. It had sold 13,827 units in the domestic market and 6,052 were exported.
