Tesla Model S gets a 2017 facelift

California-based electric car company Tesla took the wraps off a heavily refreshed version of its full-size luxury sedan.

April is proving to be a very busy month for Tesla. After revealing an all-new affordable compact sedan, the Model 3 (and generating over 200,000 orders as a result), and issuing a safety recall for all Model X SUVs on Tuesday, the company turned up the style and added new features to its existing Model S.

For the 2017 model year, the car is losing the front grille and getting new headlamps on the outside. Inside, the air filtration system has been completely overhauled -- Tesla claims it is now the best system available on any car currently in production -- while the battery's charging time has also been improved.

Other tweaks to the model include the choice of two new interior ash wood finishes.

Although the changes are meant to help the 2017 model year car stand out from the existing model, the changes are immediate, meaning that every Model S built from Tuesday onwards will feature the internal and external updates.
