Tata Nano GenX launched at Rs 1.99 lakh

Tata Motors repackaged its most talked-about car Nano in May as GenX Nano. The car was launched with advanced technological features and was made available for sale across the country in over 450 Tata Motors sales outlets.

The GenX Nano comes with a starting price of Rs 1.99 lakh for the XE variant and goes up to Rs 2.49 lakh, for the XT variant, in manual transmission. The XMA variant priced at Rs 2.69 lakh, and XTA priced at Rs 2.89 lakh with automated manual transmission (AMT). Following the launch, the existing range of the Nano will be phased out except for the CNG version.

Maruti Suzuki launches Baleno

Eyeing top slot in the premium hatchback segment, country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India rolled out its latest model 'Baleno' in October.

The car was launched at a price between Rs 4.99 lakh and Rs 8.11 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The car, which will be manufactured only in India, is the first car from the MSI stable that will be exported to Japan, he added. In domestic market, Baleno will be sold through the company's new premium network of showrooms, Nexa.

Hyundai Creta launched in India, price starts at Rs 8.59 lakh

Korean auto major Hyundai launch its most anticipated mass market sports utility vehicle Creta in India in July.

The Creta will be equipped with two engine options –petrol 1.6 dual VTVT and U2 1.4 CRDi & U2 CRDi VGT diesel engine options. The price of the car varied between Rs 8.59 lakh to Rs 13.6 lakh depending on the petrol and deisel variant and the engine power. The vehicle comes with a 6 speed manual and automatic transmission (in 1.6 CRDi VGT).

The SUV sports 17 inch diamond cut alloy wheels, projector headlamps, LED positioning lamp, static bending, leather seats, 5 inch touchscreen audio system, anti lock braking system.

Renault unveils Rs 3-lakh Kwid

To take on Maruti and Hyundai in the entry-level car segment, French auto major Renault unveiled Kwid in May priced between Rs 3 lakh and Rs 4 lakh. Developed at an investment of around Rs 3,000 crore, the SUV-shaped small car will be powered by an 800cc petrol engine.

The company is looking to make India a regional hub for exporting the new car.

Renault launches crossover MPV Lodgy Premium in India

French auto major Renault launched crossover in June based on its multi purpose vehicle (MPV) 'Lodgy' in the price range of Rs 11.99 lakh to Rs 12.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Renault Lodgy Premium Stepway Edition would be available in two variants -- Lodgy RxZ 110Ps and Lodgy RxZ 110Ps.

Powered by 1.5 litre K9K dCi (common rail direct injection) engine, RxZ 110Ps is an eight-seater and RxZ 110Ps a seven-seater.

Maruti Suzuki S-Cross hits Indian roads, price starts at Rs 8.34 lakh

The country's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki India in June rolled out crossover vehicle S-Cross at an introductory price range of Rs 8.34 lakh and Rs 13.74 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

With the car, Maruti Suzuki India is aiming to increase the market share to 55% from then 45% of the passanger car market.

The S-Cross will be available only in diesel engine options of 1.6 litre and 1.3 litre. Maruti Suzuki will sell the S-Cross through its newly launched Nexa chain of showrooms.

M&M drives in 'new-age' XUV500

Mahindra & Mahindra in May unveiled an updated version of its sports utility vehicle XUV500, with the price starting at Rs 11.21 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

While the entry level variant W4 is priced at Rs 11.21 lakh, the highest trim W10 comes with a tag of Rs 15.99 lakh.
