Noted film critic and trade analyst took to Twitter to share the collections. He wrote, "#Tumbbad stayed steady on weekdays, but the overall total remains low... The film has received tremendous word of mouth publicity from the audience and the film's leading man Sohum Shah has won the hearts once again after Ship of Theseus and Talvar owing to his remarkable performance.
B-town celebrites like Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Rajkummar Rao, Arjun Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Tiger Shroff have gone ahead to shower their love on Sohum Shah starrer Tumbbad. Even one of the most celebrated filmmakers, Imtiaz Ali enthusiastically described the film as "a brilliant, enjoyable film. Never seen anything like this before"
Interestingly when Sohum showed the movie to Aanand L Rai, he almost immediately came on board to present the film. Aanand L Rai has described Tumbbad as a genre redefining film which will dazzle you and a theatrical experience one shouldn't miss.
The film has left both the audience and critics gripped and astounded as Tumbbad presents a thrilling mixture of mythology and fantasy with imaginative monsters leaving everyone with a spine-chilling experience.
Tumbbad premiered in the critics’ week section of the 75th Venice International Film Festival, becoming the first Indian film to be screened there. It was also screened at the 2018 Fantastic Fest and the El Gouna Film Festival.
