The Mahabharata: Check out our dream cast for the epic magnum opus

Mumbai: Great Indian epic – The Mahabharata – is all set to be recreated on celluloid! A UAE-based Indian businessman will be producing the magnum opus with a budget of a whopping Rs 1000 crores! Yes, ‘The Mahabharata’ is indeed on the verge of being adapted for the silver screen.

Though the film’s core team will have its own vision vis-à-vis casting, we can’t resist sharing our dream cast for the film with you.

A number of characters played a significant role in changing the course of the epic tale. However, we have listed out 12 pivotal figures that were instrumental in making it legendary.

Here’s our dream cast:

Shri Krishna – Akshay Kumar

Akshay’s personality and charm are infectious and we think he will best suit the role of the Shri Krishna. For the uninitiated, he had played the part of Shri Krishna in ‘Oh My God’ and he pulled it off in style.

Yudishthira – Ajay Devgn

Ajay Devgn’s intense, yet calm and mature personality will be perfect for essaying this character.

Bheema – Prabhas

The very talented 'Bahaubali' Prabhas has a perfect built to play Bhima.

If reports are anything to go by, then the makers have zeroed in on Malayalam superstar Mohanlal for the role.

Arjuna – Ranveer Singh

Ranveer Singh has essayed a variety of roles and his performances have proved he is one of the best actors in town.  Be in Ram in ‘Goliyon ko Rasleela –Ram Leela’ or Peshwa Bajirao in ‘Bajirao Mastani’, Ranveer has excelled every time he has appeared on the screen.

Karna – Hrithik Roshan

Hrithik Roshan has a subtle yet magnetic personality. The Greek God of Bollywood can justify the role Daanveer Karna beautifully by emoting with his intense eyes.

Nakula and Sahdeva – Varun Dhawan

Nakula and Sahdeva were twins. Interestingly, Varun is essaying a double role in ‘Judwaa 2’. Varun can essay these parts convincingly.

Draupadi – Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone has carved a niche for herself in the field of showbiz with sheer grace and harwork. She is a name to reckon with and an actor who has evolved as brilliant performer. Moreover, her chemistry with Ranveer Singh is exemplary.

Bhishma Pitamaha – Amitabh Bachchan

We can’t think of anyone but megastar Amitabh Bachchan to essay this highly respectable part.

Shakuni – Gulshan Grover

We do not get to see the ultimate “bad man” of Hindi cinema on the silver screen much these days. Gulshan Grover’s command over voice modulation and personality will be suitable to essay this character.

Duryodhana – Rana Daggubati

As Bhallaladeva, Rana stunned us all. As Duryodhana, Rana can do wonders!

Kunti – Rekha

Rekha is an actor par excellence and she can portray this character with much grace and elegance.
