Padmavati second trailer to put all rumours, controversies to rest?

Mumbai: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati, a film starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, which was initially slated to release on December 1, has been deferred indefinitely following outrage over its historical content.

Several Rajput organisations have staged violent protests against the film have even threatened to cause harm to the filmmaker and its lead actress. The Central Board of Film Certification too hasn’t cleared with a certificate yet. This has added to Bhansali’s woes.

And in order to put all rumours and controversies to rest, the makers of Padmavati are reportedly planning to unveil the second trailer of the film that will showcase the valour and pride of the Rajputs and will only focus on Maharawal Ratan Singh and Rani Padmavati.

According to a report in India.com, the second trailer will not have any mention of Alauddin Khilji., It will focus on Rajput honour, glory and bravery.

For the uninitiated, Deepika, who plays Rani Padmavati has been paired with Shahid Kapoor who essays Maharawal Ratan Singh. Rajput organisations started protesting and sought a ban on it after rumour mills suggested that the film had a dream sequence featuring Rani Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji (portrayed by Ranveer Singh).

The sets of the film were vandalised and a rangoli inspired by film’s poster created by an artist at a mall in Gujarat was destroyed. Even a number of royals expressed displeasure over the release of the film which according to them would distort history and misrepresent facts in the garb of cinematic liberty.

However, people associated with the film have time and again have clarified that the film doesn’t have any objectionable scene that would hurt anyone’s sentiments.

And now that the latest buzz hints at the second trailer, here’s hoping that the controversy over the film dies down.
