Jodhpur: Bollywood stars Salman Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, Saif Ali Khan and Neelam who were involved in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case are in the city to hear the verdict today.
If the actors are convicted in this case, then producers may have a tough time completing their films that are already in the pipeline featuring these stars.
And as far as Salman is concerned, stakes are very high. The hunk of an actor is busy shooting for Remo D'Souza's Race 3, a film which is scheduled to hit theatres on June 15 on the occasion of Eid. Besides Race 3, Salman has Atul Agnihotri's Bharat to be directed by Ali Abbas Zafar in his kitty. And after Bharat, Salman will begin shooting for the third instalment of blockbuster franchise Dabangg co-starring Sonakshi Sinha.
Apart from Race 3, Salman has TV show Dus Ka Dum scheduled to go on air in the next few months. Moreover, the makers of Bigg Boss would love to have him as the host of the twelfth season of the reality show. For the uninitiated, Salman has been associated with Bigg Boss since the fourth season and it has been over 8 years he is the face of the show.
Coming to Saif Ali Khan, it's been a while we have seen him deliver a super-hit film at the Box Office. His recent releases - Rangoon, Chef and Kaalakaandi failed to draw crowds to movie halls. And hence he has a lot to look forward to. Saif has a film titled Baazaar co-starring Chitrangada Singh and Radhika Apte slated to release soon and if reports are anything to go by, he has a film titled Jugabandi with Parineeti Chopra.
The powerhouse of talent Tabu, who delivered spellbinding performances in Haider, Fitoor and Drishyam, will reportedly star in a film featuring Ayushmann Khurrana. She also has a film with her friend Ajay Devgn and another one titled Missing scheduled to release shortly.
Bollywood superstar Salman, 52, was accused of killing two blackbucks in Bhagoda ki Dhani in Kankani village near Jodhpur on the intervening night of October 1-2, 1998. He was in Jodhpur then along with his co-stars to shoot Sooraj Barjatya's movie Hum Saath Saath Hain.
Salman is facing charges under Section 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act and the other actors have been charged under Section 51 read with Section 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Indian Penal Code. Maximum punishment under Section 51 is six years.
