Baadshaho: Reasons to watch 'badass' Ajay Devgn starrer

Mumbai: After wowing us with his performance and breathtaking stunts in ‘Shivaay’ last year, Ajay Devgn will be back on the silverscreen this week with ‘Baadshaho’, an action-thriller directed by Milan Luthria.

The trailer of the film proved to be mighty impressive and fans of the superstar are earnestly looking forward to the release of the actioner and so are Bollywood trade experts.

Here’s taking a look at the reasons why this film could prove to be a must watch:

Ajay Devgn

Ajay Devgn is a brand that promises some good entertainment. The two-time National Film award winning actor has proved time and again that he is not just an action hero but a versatile artiste. From ‘Zakhm’ to ‘Omkara’, ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ to ‘Singham’, ‘Golmaal’ series to ‘Drishyam’, Ajay has essayed a variety of characters. And his performance in ‘Baadshaho’ too will impress us.

A full-fledged masala pot-boiler

Luthria’s ‘Baadshaho’ comes across as the ideal masala pot-boiler Bollywood is desperately in need of right now. Year 2017 hasn’t been all that great for Bollywood. Barring a film or two, Hindi films this year have proved to be dismal failures at the Box Office. Surprisingly, Salman Khan’s ‘Tubelight’ and Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ too turned out to be duds. Only Akshay Kumar’s ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ has succeeded in impressing moviegoers.

Ensemble star cast

Besides Ajay, the film also features Emraan Hashmi, Ileana D’Cruz, Esha Gupta, Vidyut Jamwal and Sanjay Mishra in pivotal roles. Each of these actors have important roles to play in the film.

Story set in the Emergency period

The story is set in the backdrop of the Emergency in 1975. So it would be interesting to see what the makers have in store for us. Though the narrative dates back to the times 42 years ago, the film certainly aims at entertaining the audiences of the present era. So the treatment of the film is likely to be quite contemporary.

Music

Apart from high-octane action sequences, the film also promises some foot-tapping numbers. ‘Mere Rashke Qamar’, a recreated version of the late Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan has already topped the music charts. Besides this Qawwali, the film also has other dance tracks such as ‘Piya More’ and ‘Socha Hai Maine’.

Luthria and Devgn’s ‘milan’

‘Baadshaho’ will mark Luthria and Ajay Devgn’s reunion after a hiatus of 7 years. The duo had teamed up for ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai’ in 2010. Prior t this film, the two had delivered ‘Kachche Dhaage’ and ‘Chori Chori’ in 1999 and 2003 respectively.
