‘Andaz Apna Apna’ sequel on the anvil – Here’s the latest

Mumbai: How can you forget - Amar and Prem’s bitter-sweet bromance, crime master Gogo’s funny antics, Ram and Shyam Bajaj’s ‘Teja main hoon kyunki mark idhar hai’ dialogue and last but not the least Karisma and Raveena’s irresistibly cute expressions? Well, here’s good news! A sequel to Rajkumar Santoshi’s ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ is on the anvil!

But there’s a slice of bad news too! Aamir Khan and Salman Khan, who essayed the roles of Amar and Prem respectively in the cult comedy, will not be a part of the sequel.

The sequel will have younger actors essaying the iconic characters.

According to a report in DNA, Santoshi said, “Yes, a sequel to the comic caper is very much in the offing.”

“I want to make a worthy successor. What other filmmakers do is en-cash on a successful film’s title, whether there is a story or not. I can’t cheat people with the title. The day I’m satisfied with the subject being the worthy successor, I will get on the floor with the movie,” he added.

Santoshi also explained why Aamir and Salman will not be repeated. He said, “For humour, you need innocence. That time, these actors had the innocence. Now, it will look forced. It looks cute if a 20 year old is chasing a girl. A 45-50 year old man chasing young girls looks vulgar.”

Interestingly, the 1994 classic proved to be a dud at the Box Office! However, the movie became extremely popular subsequently owing to its incredibly humorous plot and catchy dialogues.

The sequel may have Varun Dhawan, Ranveer Singh or Ranbir Kapoor on board, the report suggests.
