Akshay Kumar's 'PadMan' maintains steady pace at Box Office

The film is Twinkle Khanna's maiden production venture and has been directed by R Balki of 'Ki & Ka' fame.

New Delhi: The film starring Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte has been maintaining a steady pace at the ticket counter. 

The film collected Rs 3.25 crore on the Box Office taking its total collection to Rs 68.12 crore. 

Noted film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and shared the figures. "#PadMan is steady at lower levels. [Week 2] Fri Rs 2.10 crore, Sat Rs 3.15 crore. Total: Rs 68.12 crore. India biz," he tweeted. 

The film is Twinkle Khanna's maiden production venture and has been directed by R Balki of 'Ki & Ka' fame. The film is based on the story of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a social activist from Tamil Nadu who invented the process of making a low-cost sanitary pad.

Interestingly, Twinkle had mentioned about the story of 'Padman' aka Arunachalam in the final short story titled ‘The Sanitary Man from A Sacred Land’ in her second novel ‘The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad’.

'PadMan' had earned a modest Rs 10.26 crore on its opening day in India. The film is facing tough competition from Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmaavat' which is now in its fourth week of release. Besides 'Padmaavat', Neeraj Pandey's 'Aiyaary' starring Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee has collected Rs 7.40 crore in its two-day run in the cinema.
