New Delhi: While Neeraj Pandey's 'Aiyaary' has finally managed to hit screens today across the country, the film has failed to get clearance for screening in Pakistan.

Reports suggest that the Siddharth Malhotra-Manoj Bajpayee-starrer has shown corruption in the army and a negative portrayal of Pakistan, and hence has been banned in the neighbourhood. This is Neeraj Pandey's third film to face a ban in Pakistan. His previous films, 'Baby' and 'Naam Shabana' also did not release there.

It must be noted that in 2017, Pakistan banned almost six Hindi films including 'Tiger Zinda Hai', 'Tubelight' and 'Raees'.

Recently, Pakistan banned Akshay Kumar-starrer 'PadMan' citing that they cannot showcase a film on 'taboo subjects'. The country's Federal Censor Board, while refusing to give its nod for the release of the film, announced a ban on the film in all cinemas across the country.

"We can't allow our film distributors to import films which are against our traditions and culture," FCB member Ishaq Ahmed was quoted as saying by PTI. The members of Punjab Film Censor Board also refused to watch the film saying it is based on a "taboo subject" and outrightly rejected any clearance certificate to it.

Meanwhile, produced by Motion Picture Capital, 'Aiyaary' also features Anupam Kher, Naseeruddin Shah, Rakulpreet Singh and Pooja Chopra. The film narrates the fallout and subsequent face-off between two Army officers - a mentor and a protege.
