Patna: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Saturday slammed the opposition and said that former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family are more concerned about the 27 August 'Desh Bachao - Bhajpa Bhagao' rally than the state's flood situation.

The Bihar deputy CM alleged that the opposition was trying to politicise the situation instead of supporting for the cause prevailing in the state.

"I think the situation must not be politicised. The Centre and the state government have been jointly working to overcome the difficult situation, assisting the flood victims in every possible way," Sushil Modi told ANI.

Retorting to the allegations by the opposition that former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh announced relief fund of Rs 1100 crore to support a similar situation, the deputy CM asserted that Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family have never supported the cause and failed to announce relief funds for flood victims.

Sushil Modi expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Centre for the support during flood like situation in Bihar.

"We express our gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for taking out valuable time to visit Bihar and supervise the flood affected areas of Bihar," Modi said.

"I thank Prime Minister to grant Rs 500 crore as flood relief fund and the kin of the deceased would be issued Rs two lakhs extra from the Prime Minister fund," he added

He also informed that 28 teams of National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF), 30 teams of Indian army and a total of 2500 armed men were deployed to review the condition by the Centre within 72 hours of the disaster.

An amount of Rs 6000 would also be credited to the RTGS account of the victims.

Reportedly, Lalu Prasad will hold a rally against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at Patna's Gandhi Maidan on Sunday.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav and senior Congress leaders will also attend the rally.
