New Delhi: Saina Nehwal captured season's first title after a thrilling straight games win over Thailand`s Pornpawee Chochuwong in the final of Malaysia Masters Grand Prix Gold badminton tournament in Sarawak.
The top-seed's 22-20, 22-20 win over 19-year-old Chochuwong will be regarded as one of the defining moments in her career, which has seen injury playing its part too.

The 26-year-old former World Number One had endured an injury-plagued 2016 season. She sustained an intra-articular injury (inside the joint) to her right knee.

As a result, she lost tin the group stage of 2016 Rio Olympics, where her understudy PV Sindhu won the singles silver medal.
Now, she is making a comeback after undergoing a knee surgery at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute in Mumbai.
