SpiceJet SG-11 flight from Delhi to Dubai was diverted to Karachi (Pakistan) after developing a technical fault. The Boeing 737 Max aircraft that was heading from Delhi to Dubai started showing unusual fuel quantity reduction from its left tank when it was mid-air. Therefore, the plane was diverted to Karachi.

When an inspection was done at the Karachi airport, no visual leak was observed from the left tank, officials noted. "SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Dubai diverted to Karachi. Boeing 737's engine has developed a technical fault. The captain of the aircraft sought a precautionary landing and was given permission. All passengers on board are safe. The call sign of the aircraft is SG11," sources told ANI.

According to the Karachi airport officials, the flight was diverted when it was on the way to Dubai."The plane landed in Karachi 0803 am (local time), 53 minutes after being airborne. It has been on-ground for the past four hours. Passengers are being looked after. The plane has been parked in the designated area where engineers are assessing the problem," Pakistan`s civil aviation authority (CAA) official said.

In a statement, SpiceJet said, "On July 5, 2022, SpiceJet B737 aircraft operating flight SG-11 (Delhi-Dubai) was diverted to Karachi due to an indicator light malfunctioning. The aircraft landed safely at Karachi and passengers were safely disembarked."

As per aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), its fuel indicator started malfunctioning. Within last 17 days, this is the sixth incident on SpiceJet aircraft and DGCA is investigating all the six incidents. A few days ago a Spicejet aircraft flying from Delhi to Jabalpur had to return to Delhi after the cabin crew and passengers on the plane noticed smoke coming out of the aircraft.

The incident occurred when the plane was 5,000 ft in the sky. Based on the report the plane safely returned back to the airport, upon return the passengers safely disembarked off the plane. Before this a SpiceJet flight had to make an emergency landing because it caught fire mid-air due to a birdstrike.
