Rishabh Pant car accident: Know all about Mercedes-AMG GLE Coupe - Check safety, price, features

Indian cricket team's wicketkeeper and batsman Rishabh Pant was involved in a severe car crash today (December 30), when he met with a gruesome road accident in Haridwar. As per initial reports, Pant was going to Roorkee to meet his relatives. He got into the unfortunate accident because he fell asleep at the wheel, 1 km ahead of Narsan towards Roorkee, as to by the local police. As seen in a CCTV footage, his car crashed into a divider and caught fire. Luckily, the cricketer managed to escape the car with injuries and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital.

As seen in the pictures, Pant was driving a Mercedes-Benz SUV, although it's hard to recognize the model he was driving as the car was totalled in the crash. However, if seen closely, the alloy wheels and the body profile resemble Mercedes-AMG GLE Coupe, which is a performance SUV. While Rishabh Pant bought a Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV in 2017, there's no reports of him buying the AMG model in India. The Mercedes-AMG GLE Coupe is available in two variants GLE 53 and GLE 63 and is priced upwards of Rs 1.50 crore in India. 

Soon after buying the GLC SUV in 2017, Pant was seen driving the car at a speed exceeding 120 kmph on the roads of Delhi and boasted about the same on social media, facing a lot of backlash for ignoring road safety norms.

Mercedes-AMG GLE Coupe: Performance

The Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe is powered by a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder, twin-turbo petrol engine and the unit is paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system (Mercedes calls it EQ Boost). The total output stands at 435hp, of which, EQ adds up to 22hp and 250Nm of torque under hard acceleration. It is mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox and Mercedes’ 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system.
