2022 MG Hector Facelift SUV teased, to get India's largest 14-inch infotainment screen MG Hector Teaser

MG Motor India has teased its upcoming 2022 Hector Facelift for the first time ahead of its launch in the country. The 2022 MG Hector will receive a mid-life facelift and will get the India's largest 14-inch HD Portrait Infotainment System, a first in India. As per the brand, the interior of Next-Gen Hector is conceptualized as a ‘Symphony of Luxury’, offering a cinematic and immersive experience thanks to the India's largest screen. Automakers in India have been offering touchscreen infotainment screens upto 10.4-inch size, which makes the MG Hector's screen the biggest, once launched. On the other hand, automakers like Tesla have been offering screens with size ranging from 14 inch to 17 inch depending on the model.

MG Hector, launched back in 2019, was the first car in India to offer a multitude of inbuilt apps including, Gaana, Accuweather among others and branded itself as 'India's first internet car'. MG also introduced voice command functions in multiple languages as per Indian dialects.

Since MG became the first automaker in the country to offer ADAS Level 2 features in the mid-size category with the launch of MG Astor, the new Hector will most likely borrow the same Advanced Driver Assistance Systems like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, blind spot alert, auto park assist, etc.

The facelifted MG Hector will most likely retain the same powertrain options like the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel engine. The former develops a maximum power output of 143 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque and it can be had in a six-speed manual and a CVT transmission option. The manual trim will be available with a 48-volt mild-hybrid tech. The turbo diesel produces 170 PS and 350 Nm and is linked with a six-speed MT only.

The MG Hector facelift was earlier spied testing in India with Wuling Almaz RS-inspired exterior. Styling-wise, it looks largely similar to the Hector, save for a few changes, like the new front radiator grille, revised headlamp clusters, and red highlight on the front bumper. From the side and rear profiles, it looks identical to the outgoing model. Therefore, it won’t be incorrect to assume that MG might also be looking at launching a spicier Hector RS in our market.
