Hyderabad: In an attempt to spread communal harmony, Darul Ifta Jamia Nizami has appealed to Muslims in the country that they avoid slaughtering cows on Eid-ul-Azha to respect religious sentiments of Hindus.
Eid al-Adha which is also known as Id-ul-Zuha (Bakr-Id) will be celebrated on September
The Bombay High Court on Monday asked the Maharashtra police what preventive measures it proposes to take against cow vigilante groups ahead of Eid ul Adha (Bakr- Id) next month.
The court made it clear it will not frame any or guidelines rules on how the issue needs to be handled and noted that maintenance of law and order is the responsibility of the police.
Darul Ifta is managed by one Sadar mufti, two Naib muftis and one fatwa writer. Every year, more than 1500 fatwas are being issued from this branch. Oral clarifications are also issued from this branch to the seekers. To the outside world, fatwas are communicated on "E-Mail".
