Vijayawada: In a brutal incident, a man was hacked to death by four unidentified persons on a busy street in Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday.
The horrible incident took place near a court in Produttur town.
A video has gone viral showing the assailants repeatedly stabbing the man, identified as 32-year-old B Maruti Reddy, in the middle of a road as people watched in horror. Nobody came forward to save the victim but shot the video.
Reddy was attacked by four persons as soon as he got down from an auto-rickshaw. He tried to escape but fell down near the road divider. The assailants pounced on him and stabbed him repeatedly.
The gory visuals were also recorded on the CCTV cameras in the area. Police said the man was coming to court to appear in connection with a case.
Police suspect old enmity led to the murder. The Times of India reported that the victim allegedly had an affair with a woman from the perpetrators' family.
In the video, a man is seen holding Reddy, while the other attacked him with a sword-like object. Rest of the perpetrators reportedly shot the video and shared on social media.
A police officer said they were investigating the incident from all angles.
